1st Annual Day of Caring
110 Volunteers Value = $10,000
Very Successful Day of Caring Kicks Off 2001-2002 Campaign! Some 110 volunteers from high school students to seniors spent Saturday, September 8, doing good deeds for ten community serivice organizations throughout Pike County. The day began with a hearty breakfast at the Tom Quick Inn, donated by friends of United Way. Then, it was off to work Board President Lee Oakes says the outpouring of generosity is the "symbolizes what United Way is all about". The Day of Caring also marked the start of the 2001-2002 campaign, with a goal of $85,000. As of September 29, some $15,200 had already been donated or pledged.
