UNITED WAY ANNOUNCES 17TH ANNUAL DAY OF CARING!

Matthew Osterberg, President of the United Way of Pike County announced that the 17th Annual Day of Caring will be held on Saturday, September 9th at Delaware Valley High School. The 15th Annual 9-11 Memorial Blood Drive will be held in the DV 9-10 Gym beginning at 9am. The United Way Day of Caring is a day when volunteers join together and travel to local non-profit human service agencies to help clean up, clean out and refresh for the coming months ahead. Even more importantly, friends and neighbors are giving and sharing while carrying on the tradition of giving back to the community.

“The Day of Caring is a perfect example of how we contribute to the community. This event is not a fundraiser, nor a campaign, it’s simply an event that we put on to help those organizations in need. Seeing over 350 students and volunteers give back to the community on one day is truly an inspiring event. As President of the United Way I am thrilled to have seen this event grow over the years”. Stated Matthew Osterberg, President UWPC.

Osterberg explained that the Day of Caring starts at the Delaware Valley 9-10 campus with registration at 8:00am. Every volunteer will receive a free tee shirt. The tee shirts are a gift to each volunteer from The Dime Bank, Econo Pak, The Honesdale National Bank, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield After registration all volunteers are invited to enjoy a hearty breakfast prepared by the Warrior Café. The breakfast is provided by the Delaware Valley School District Warrior Café.  The actual work of the day begins at 9am and will end at 2pm.
